The Van Halen family - father Jan, mother Eugenia and little Alex and Eddie - leaves Holland and immigrates to the U.S. They spent 9 days on the boat to New York. From there, they took a 4 day trip by train to California

Eddie & Alex's first band - The Broken Combs, is formed. The group features Eddie on piano and Alex playing saxophone. Other band members: Don Ferris, Brian Hill (drums), Kevin Hill (plastic guitar)

Eddie and Alex form the The Trojan Rubber Company. They are also called The Space Brothers, so they can perform at schools

Mammoth is formed. The band is made up of Eddie - who sings lead and plays guitar, Alex on drums and Mark Stone as the bassist
